Disability Community for Democracy, Inc. is proud to host a free virtual event, Bed-In: Disability-Led Rally, on Saturday 1st March 2025, from 1pm to 6pm ET. The title ‘Bed-In’ is a nod to the famous ‘Bed-Ins for Peace’ held by John Lennon and Yoko Ono in the late 1960s, symbolising their commitment to peaceful activism and advocacy.
This event is designed to be inclusive, with ASL and Spanish Interpretation available. The organisation believes in creating a space where everyone can participate and contribute regardless of their abilities.
Empowering voices: advocates leading the charge for disability rights and inclusion
The Bed-In will feature speakers and discussion panels on a range of topics, including disability rights, engagement in political campaigns, and better options for working adults with disabilities. They encourage participants to join and be part of this vital conversation.
Some of the featured speakers include activist Keith Jones, President and CEO of SoulTouchin’ Experiences LLC, Erin Noon Kay, CEO and Founder of Claiming Disability, and Malakai Strong, founder of StrongWheeld, an author, and mental health activist.
Keith Jones is a multi-talented artist who, alongside Leroy Moore and Rob Temple, founded Krip Hop Nation, an international collective of artists with disabilities. SoulTouchin’ Experiences LLC provides multicultural, cross-disability education and outreach efforts. He conducts training to strengthen efforts to provide services and information for people with disabilities.
Erin Noon Kay identifies as a “fierce disabled entrepreneurial woman” with cerebral palsy. She works hard to bring representation for disability in film and everyday culture through media projects and disability-related content. Claiming Disability is connected to over 35,000 disability advocates from around the world.
Malakai Strong is an author and mental health activist who is dedicated to bridging the gaps between the disability and LGBTQIA+ communities. As the founder of StrongWheeld, he promotes equity, accessibility, and inclusive practices across communities. His debut book, *Super Me*, was released in November 2023.
