In a world that offers endless travel opportunities and unforgettable adventures, people with disabilities are often excluded from these visceral experiences due to a lack of accessibility. At Wheel the World, we are on a mission to challenge these barriers and ensure that individuals with mobility issues can travel the world without limits.

How Wheel the World was founded

After a life-altering accident at the age of 18, Alvaro Silberstein was left paralysed from the chest down. He and his friend, Camilo Navarro, were determined to continue exploring the world and not allow circumstances to dampen their love for outdoor adventure.

Undeterred by the challenges they faced, they embarked on a transformative backpacking journey through the rugged landscapes of Patagonia in southern Chile, equipped with a custom wheelchair designed to navigate the uneven terrain. Their story of friendship and unwavering perseverance became a powerful inspiration for disabled travellers worldwide, igniting a movement towards inclusive travel.

Fueled by their passion, solidarity and unyielding resolve, Wheel the World emerged as a comprehensive platform for disabled travellers to book trips all over the globe – each with guaranteed accessibility.

We believe that everyone, regardless of physical abilities, should have the same opportunities to travel the globe just like everyone else and embark on grand adventures no matter how big or small.

“Limitations” is not in our vocabulary. Rather, we are in the business of disrupting the status quo when it comes to accessible travel. By collaborating with a network of trusted partners who share the same vision of creating a more inclusive world, Wheel the World has empowered thousands of travellers spanning numerous countries to experience accessible accommodations, activities, transportation and multi-day trips.

Our commitment to accuracy and reliability ensures that each traveller receives comprehensive accessibility information, allowing them to make an informed decision on their trips. With our ever-expanding network of trusted partners, Wheel the World guarantees accessible travel experiences in over 250 destinations worldwide, a number that continues to grow, driven by our passion, experiences and inspiring customers.

If there is one thing we’ve learnt over the years, it is that individuals with disabilities are some of the most tenacious, resilient and top problem-solvers on the planet. We are not only grateful for the impact that Wheel the World has made thus far, but also for the profound impact that our members have had on us. Witnessing travellers push the boundaries of what is possible serves as a constant source of inspiration and encouragement.

From standing at the foot of a majestic mountain, gazing up at its grandiose summit, to relaxing on pristine beaches, zip-lining through the lush jungles of Costa Rica, or immersing oneself in the rich tapestry of another culture, these are experiences that should be accessible to all individuals, regardless of their physical abilities.

Yet, many of these adventures are not built with accessibility in mind – however, Wheel the World is here to change that.

Crip Life™ Media PackThe Crip Life™ advertising strategy is “Pay What You Can (PWYC).” We know this is very different to most if not all, online magazines. PWYC is a business model that doesn’t insist upon set prices for its goods or services. Instead, it asks clients to pay what they feel the product or service is worth. We have taken this one step further by adding what you can afford to pay.

We want to place adverts for a wide range of clients. So, whatever the size of the organisation, if you want to share a personal story with our readers or promote a product or service, contact Joanna Baker-Rogers.

For more information on our advertising strategy, read our Crip Life™ Media Pack 2024. (If you prefer, we also have a Plain Text version). Also, view our Crip Life™ Advertising Offers 2024. (We also have a Plain Text version)
