Applications are open to all UK residents (including Isle of Man and Channel Islands) aged 16 or over by January 1st, 2025. Full Rules of Entry are available at applyforbakeoff.co.uk.

What makes a strong Bake Off applicant?

This image shows a group of contestants from *The Great British Bake Off*, standing together in the iconic Bake Off tent. There are 12 people in total, wearing aprons, which suggests they are the competing bakers for the season. The contestants are of diverse backgrounds, and they’re smiling, with some sitting and some standing around a wooden table, creating a friendly and cheerful atmosphere. The background includes the familiar Bake Off tent decorations: greenery, shelves with kitchenware, and colorful plants, as well as bunting hanging along the top edge. The decor is cozy and rustic, with pastel-colored shelves and accents, reflecting the show's warm and inviting aesthetic.

  • Passion for baking: A love for baking is essential!
  • Breadth of baking skills: While cakes are wonderful, Bake Off includes bread, biscuit and pastry challenges. However, applicants don’t need experience in every type – many past bakers learnt new skills along the way!

Tips for the application:

  • Be detailed: Provide as much information as possible about yourself, your baking style and your creations.
  • Showcase your bakes: Photos are a fantastic way to highlight your creations and let the team see your amazing work.

Accessibility in the application process:

  • The Bake Off team can adapt the application process to meet specific accessibility needs. For instance, they offer applications in varied colours and fonts, or a representative can fill it out on an applicant’s behalf. Contact applyforbakeoff@loveproductions.co.uk or 0117 456 8530 for assistance.
  • There’s a section in the application form to specify any accessibility requirements for the interview process or within the tent.

Accessibility in the tent

For any applicants with disabilities, the Bake Off tent can be modified to meet specific needs, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate.

Several bakers with disabilities have excelled in the Bake Off tent, such as Tasha Stones from Series 14, Marc Elliot and Lizzie Acker. Briony May Williams, who finished fourth in Series 9, has gone on to a successful broadcasting career.
