New scheme helps disabled drivers and passengers own brand-new vehicles with mobility adaptations already installed, with early customers already reporting major improvements to their independence, comfort and confidence. UK vehicle adaptation specialist Mobility in Motion is helping disabled drivers and passengers buy brand-new adapted cars, often for less than the price of the equivalent used vehicles, offering a new option for people who need specialist mobility car adaptations.
The company’s new scheme, Adapt & Drive, combines new car discounts, specialist adaptations and flexible payment options, with vehicles delivered fully adapted and ready to drive.

Affordable adapted vehicle restores comfort and independence for a disabled passenger

One customer, Elizabeth from Salisbury, recently purchased a brand-new 2026 Nissan X-Trail with accessibility adaptations installed, saving £ 1,000 when compared with the standard new car price.
Her car was fitted with a swivel seat featuring a Carony system, helping her husband Ian enter and exit the vehicle more easily.
Elizabeth said: “Mobility in Motion was helpful, informative and flexible throughout the process. They understand the varying needs of people living with disability and demonstrate both respect and creative thinking. And the best bit? My husband has travelled comfortably, safely, with no nausea.”
Adapt & Drive vs Motability Scheme
With the cost of living rising and adapted vehicles often commanding high prices, Mobility in Motion says the scheme aims to make adapted vehicle ownership more accessible, transparent and affordable.
Accessible transport in the UK has been transformed by the Motability Scheme, which has enabled millions of disabled people who qualify for the scheme to lease vehicles and maintain independence for more than four decades.
Matt Fieldhouse, Group Managing Director of Mobility in Motion, said,
“The Motability Scheme has changed millions of lives and continues to play a hugely important role in helping disabled people stay mobile and independent. Adapt & Drive is about supporting people who still need an adapted vehicle but may not be able to access that scheme.
“We’re already seeing the impact with customers like Elizabeth and her husband, who now own their brand-new adapted car, which cost them less than the price of a used one.
“We’re learning a huge amount from every customer we support, and this will shape the brands, models and options in the future.”
Customers who qualify for VAT relief may benefit from additional savings depending on eligibility.
Adapt & Drive provides expert support before and after delivery, helping drivers select the right vehicle, the right adaptations and a payment option that works for them.
