For those of you who know a little about me, you may know I have a doctorate in education. For those of you who know a little about doctoral studies and being disabled researchers, you may know how difficult and expensive it is to get your research published.
From submitting your paper to seeing it published, can take many months and revisions. The fee to do so can run into thousands of pounds.
It’s important to publish research for a number of reasons:
- To address a gap in knowledge
- To enable peer review by other academics
- Allows the methodology to be repeated by other researchers, to confirm or refute your results
- To inform practice in your field of study
- To build an academic’s reputation.
So, Crip Life wants to publish your research! Not for free but for a Pay What You Can (PWYC) fee.
If you have a research or conference paper, thesis, book, dissertation or documentary of relevance to the disabled community, please, email Joanna Baker-Rogers.
You can check out other academic publications written by disabled researchers on our Disability Studies page.
